William T. Riker Posted December 11, 2015 Report Posted December 11, 2015 Greetings, Starfleet. I have been aware for some time now that there are still a great many of us in the fleet who would like to play the old Star Trek games such as Star Trek Bridge Commander and Star Trek Voyager Elite Force. Therefore, I have uploaded both of these games to google drive for all fleet members to access. Star Trek Bridge commander already has the Kobayashi Maru mod installed as well as the multiplayer fix, which will allow us to see and create multiplayer servers. Elite force already has the expansion pack installed and there are many multiplayer servers to choose from. both of these games work without a CD so all you need to do is download the file, decompress it, and click the desired EXE file (STBC.EXE for Bridge Commander and STVOY.EXE for Elite Force and STVOYHM.EXE for holomatch multiplayer). It should also be noted that you will need a program to open the archives in which the files are contained. If you are running windows, i recommend the program 7-Zip (can be found here http://www.7-zip.org/download.html)for Mac i recommend the unarchiver (can be found here http://unarchiver.c3.cx/unarchiver). In order to run these and other windows games on a Mac, you will need to download a program called Wine, which is an open source program to emulate Windows. It can be found here. http://winebottler.kronenberg.org Once you have dragged wine to the applications folder, open it. you should see a picture of a wine glass in the upper right corner of your toolbar. click it and scroll down until you see "current prefix". It should say "Wine Files", if it does then you are good to go, if it does not then you will need to create a new prefix. To do this, simply click on "change prefix" then click "add" then save the new prefix as Wine Files and save it to your desktop. Once the prefix has been created, navigate to your hard disk then go to users, then click on your user account. now simply drag the Wine Files folder into this directory. go to "change prefix" and select "wine files". now you are good to go. to launch a game, simply find the EXE file and right click on it and click open with then scroll down to find Wine. a little box will pop up saying that you are about to open a wine file. make sure that it says "run directly in users/your name/wine files" then click ok and the game should launch with no problems. Happy gaming to you all. Quote
h3llr4iser Posted January 9, 2016 Report Posted January 9, 2016 To add to this great post, here you can find Starfleet Command III: http://www.starfleets.st/files/SFC3.zip It's a strategy spaceship combat game...it's actually quite a bit difficult to describe, as it plays like essentially nothing but other Starfleet Command games; Let's say it does resemble a naval combat game more than anything else, but with tactical warp (useful to avoid torpedoes), cloaking and customizable ships - you pick your ship's loadout before the battle Here's a Youtube clip: The game is quite fun as a multiplayer experience because it avoids the "cookie cutter" problem that affects many other games - each faction (Federation, Klingon, Romulan and Borg) has its own peculiarities and even between the various ships, characteristics and capabilities vary quite a bit, resulting in a variety of workable tactics, configurations and approaches. As a single player game, there is a fairly interesting campaign - essentially the player gets to experience a sequence of events from the point of view of the Klingons first, then the Romulans and finally the Federation. Zoe Carter Posted February 27, 2020 Report Posted February 27, 2020 To add once again to this great post, here is where you may find the great Klingon Academy:https://www.myabandonware.com/game/star-trek-klingon-academy-dcu This Abandonware site is completely free of charge, and to my knowledge and experience completely also free of viruses or other unpleasantness. There are a great wealth of old games to be found there, not only Star Trek ones. Though they do have many. However, since KA by itself does not work with Windows 10, there is a site I have found which contains fixes for it to allow it to do so; with complete instructions on how to set-up the fixes and ensure it all works. That site is found here:http://jiridvorak.webpark.cz/ka/ I hope this brings back a lovely sense of nostalgia for everyone, as it does for me; KA was my FIRST ever Star Trek game... and my first game ever played here as a part of this great Fleet.Qapla'! Arcos Posted March 11 Report Posted March 11 Armada was a pretty good game.... if you could stay Insync with the other players... I think its available on GOG? and eBay. I have a couple of the CD's so I put it on a flash drive with the latest patches to make it NO-CD. This is so irregular for me, but I could look for the patch's as they are online, I just keep them on a flash disc. I think you can get patch 1.1 + 1.2 on Star Trek: Armada Files I also have Star Fleet Command Gold Edition on steam... I don't know if it's still available for purchase, but it's fun ship combat simulator... You have to reconfigure a file I think the video teaches you. you need to set the mouse async to 0 in the SFC configuration file. Bing Videos Quote
